PM Shehbaz Sharif: Pakistan’s Push for a Polio-Free Nation
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his dedication to making Pakistan polio-free, emphasizing that with united efforts, the disease will be eliminated, ensuring a healthier future for the nation’s children.
During the launch of a 7-day polio eradication campaign, the prime minister highlighted the importance of collective action in combating polio. He stressed that only through teamwork and collaboration can Pakistan successfully rid itself of this preventable disease.
In his speech, the prime minister expressed deep gratitude to the federal and provincial teams, including health workers, volunteers, and security personnel, who have been pivotal in advancing the campaign. Their tireless work has brought the nation closer to a polio-free future.
PM Shehbaz Sharif voiced optimism that by working closely with provincial leaders, health ministers, and experts, Pakistan can eliminate polio and prevent its resurgence. He assured that the government is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety to protect future generations from the disease.
In addition to the polio campaign, the prime minister encouraged the nation to rally behind efforts to boost literacy and education, particularly on the occasion of International Literacy Day. He emphasized the transformative power of education, calling it a fundamental human right that paves the way for a prosperous future.
“Literacy is more than just the ability to read and write—it’s a gateway to empowerment and opportunity,” PM Shehbaz stated. He underscored the government’s plans to improve education by declaring an educational emergency, launching enrollment drives, and providing mid-day meals in schools. The prime minister also announced new scholarships and incentives to reduce dropout rates, ensuring every child has access to education.
Looking ahead, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of integrating technology into the education system, equipping young Pakistanis with the skills they need for the modern, digital world.
