The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Wednesday that Pakistan U19 will compete in a seven-match ODI tri-series against the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan from November 13 to 26. The series, hosted by UAE, will have its venues announced later.
The series opener will be between Pakistan U19 and UAE U19 on November 13. The top two teams after the first six games will advance to the final on November 26. This tri-series serves as preparation for the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2024, scheduled for December, with exact dates yet to be revealed.
The tri-series will help players gear up for the Asia Cup. To further prepare the players and allow them to impress selectors for the final squad, the PCB will organize a National U19 Cup in a 50-over format and a three-day Championship event in October.
Director International Usman Wahla emphasized the importance of the tri-series for player development before the Asian event in December. “We are delighted that the Pakistan Men’s U19 team will participate in a highly competitive U19 tri-series in the UAE just before the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup. This will be a great opportunity for the young players to grow and nurture their skills,” Wahla stated.
Wahla also expressed gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board for arranging the tri-series, highlighting the strong bilateral ties and shared commitment to developing young players.
