Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test: Shakeel and Rizwan’s Centuries Put Green Shirts in Command

On the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan’s position was significantly bolstered by centuries from Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, as the match progressed at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Resuming their innings at 158-4, Shakeel and Rizwan led Pakistan’s recovery after a challenging first day, where the national side lost crucial wickets. Their efforts, alongside a 98-run partnership with Saim Ayub, helped stabilize the innings. The duo exhibited a patient approach, adding runs steadily and ensuring they didn’t lose further wickets. By lunch, the score had advanced to 256-4.

Shakeel, who had partnered with Ayub in a gritty performance the previous day, continued his solid play, and Rizwan’s contribution further enhanced Pakistan’s position. Shakeel, having reached a century (109*), and Rizwan, nearing his own century with an unbeaten 116*, helped Pakistan reach a score of 304-4 after 82 overs.

Bangladesh’s bowlers, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud, each claimed two wickets but struggled to halt Pakistan’s progress. As the day ended, Pakistan’s position was strengthened by the solid performances of Shakeel and Rizwan.
