Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day celebrations at WTC Dubai

DUBAI (UAE): The 77th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence was marked in the United Arab Emirates with a spectacular event at the Dubai World Trade Centre, drawing over 10,000 attendees.
The celebration, organized by the UAE Government Media Office in collaboration with in collaboration with “Emirates Loves Pakistan” page, the Pakistan Association Dubai, Dubai Police, and Dubai World Trade Centre., highlighted the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, led the festivities alongside Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi , CG Hussain Muhammad and other dignitaries.
In his address, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Pakistan, stating, “Our cultural, political, commercial, and people-to-people linkages are deeply rooted in shared values and beliefs and provide a strong and stable foundation for our close relations, now and in the future We also have hope and strong resolve for achieving progress and peace in all corners of the world, we are determined to take advantage of the emerging and growing special place of both Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates in world affairs.”
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan added, “On this special occasion of your country’s 77th Day of Independence, we in the UAE are proud to join the people of Pakistan in offering hope and optimism for the future of our countries, our region, and the world. We in the UAE are proud to work with our Pakistani brothers and sisters to achieve regional and global progress and prosperity.”
The event showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through traditional performances and exhibitions. It also celebrated the Pakistani community’s contributions to the UAE’s development across various sectors.
Alia Al Hammadi, Deputy Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office, underscored the strategic partnership between the two countries, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in Pakistan.
A special ceremony honored distinguished Pakistani individuals for their achievements in diverse fields. Honorees included: Dr. Faisel Ikram, President of the Pakistan Association Dubai; Dr. Yarjan Abdul Samad, Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Khalifa University; Chef Chaudary Abdul Hameed, founder of Ravi Restaurant; Halima Jumani, co-founder of Kibsons; Mudassir Sheikha, co-founder of Careem; Yahya Jan, President and Design Director at NORR.
Notable athletes were also recognized, including mountaineer Naila Kiani, cricket legend Shahid Afridi, squash champion Jahangir Khan, and hockey star Shahbaz Ahmed.
The celebration underscored the UAE’s longstanding support for Pakistan, dating back to the nation’s founding in 1971. Recently, the UAE committed $10 billion in investments to key sectors in Pakistan, further strengthening the economic ties between the two countries.
This event not only commemorated Pakistan’s independence but also reinforced the enduring friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan.
