The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made several changes to the national squad ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh, which will take place from August 30 to September 3 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed and batsman Kamran Ghulam have been recalled to the squad after featuring for Pakistan Shaheens in a four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’. Additionally, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was released after the first Test, has rejoined the squad, and all-rounder Aamir Jamal has also been recalled, though his participation is contingent on fitness clearance.
These changes come after a disappointing performance by Pakistan’s pacers in the first Test, where they struggled to take advantage of the favorable conditions and were outperformed by Bangladesh, leading to a 10-wicket defeat. The team management and senior players were reportedly unhappy with the pacers’ declining pace and inability to capitalize on the pitch conditions. Pakistan’s squad for the second Test includes 16 players, led by captain Shan Masood and vice-captain Saud Shakeel.
