KARACHI: The performance of Karachi teams proved that there is immense talent in Karachi. In this season, the players of Karachi won the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, T20 and U-19 tournament with their excellent performance, while the U-19 three-day and National ODI Cups were also runner-up, says a Press release.
Despite this excellent performance, the players of Karachi are not given the place they deserve. Like other players of Karachi, Sarfaraz Ahmed has also been subjected to injustice.
These views were expressed by Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, the caretaker provincial sports minister of Sindh.
Speaking as the chief guest at the celebration ceremony for the wonderful victories of the Karachi region in the season held at the local hotel, he appreciated Nadim Omar President Regional Cricket Association Karachi for his services in cricket and said that a person like him is Pakistan needs right now, who work without any greed.
Nadim Omar, the host of the event, President Regional Cricket Association Karachi, said, “I wish that the players of Karachi become part of the national team as much as possible.” He further said that by forming a Karachi team, it will be sent on a tour to other countries so that they can improve their game. Syed Irshad Ahmad Gilani, Vice President of RCAK, said at the ceremony that under the leadership of Nadim Omar,Karachi cricket will be given its original place and Karachi team will be provided opportunities to play cricket in America.
Javed Ahmed Khan Secretary RCAK said that the way Nadim Omar has encouraged the teams in the past. former captain of the national team Sarfaraz Ahmed and captain U-19 Saad Baig, Khalid Nafees, chairman of the tournament committee RCAK, Iqbal Imam, head coach of Karachi Whites also addressed the ceremony.
Chief guest Dr Junaid Ali Shah distributed 15 lakhs cash prize and shield to the players and team officials on behalf of Nadim Omar while former president KCCA Syed Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari was presented with Lifetime Achievement Award by former president KCCA Prof. Ejaz Faruqi and Commemorative shields were distributed to zonal presidents, secretaries and treasurers.
Test captain Shan Masood, former test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Muhammad Azam Khan, Mahmood Hamid, member junior selection committee, Tauseef Siddiqui, joint secretary of RCAK, Asim Umar, Sohail Wajahat, Shariq Haseeb, Tanvir-ul-Haq, presidents of seven zones, secretaries, treasurers and other distinguished guests were also present.
