Petrol price reduced by Rs10 per litre for the next two weeks

Pakistan has reduced the price of petrol by Rs10 per litre following a drop in international fuel prices over the past two weeks.

According to a statement from the Finance Division, “The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has adjusted the consumer prices of petroleum products based on changes in the international market.”

The new price will be in effect from midnight. This reduction marks the fourth consecutive decrease in petrol prices within the last two months.

Here are the updated prices:

  • Petrol: Rs249.10 (down from Rs259.10, a decrease of Rs10.00)
  • High-Speed Diesel: Rs249.69 (down from Rs262.75, a decrease of Rs13.06)
  • Kerosene: Rs158.47 (down from Rs169.62, a decrease of Rs11.15)
  • Light Diesel Oil: Rs141.93 (down from Rs154.05, a decrease of Rs12.12)

The reduction also applies to kerosene oil and light diesel oil, which have been cut by Rs11.15 and Rs12.12, respectively.

This is the fourth time in two months that petrol prices have been reduced. In the previous review, the federal government had decreased petrol prices by Rs1.86 per litre, from Rs260.96 to Rs259.10.

Petrol is commonly used in private transportation, including small vehicles, rickshaws, and motorcycles. Changes in fuel prices have a significant impact on the budgets of middle and lower-middle-class individuals who use petrol for commuting. In contrast, high-speed diesel is essential for the transport sector, including heavy goods vehicles, trucks, buses, trains, and agricultural machinery. High-speed diesel prices affect the cost of goods and contribute to inflation, particularly impacting the prices of vegetables and other food items.
