DERA GHAZI KHAN: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Punjab government to take every possible step to provide best facilities to the general public regarding prevention from coronavirus.
Addressing a briefing about government’s initiatives regarding coronavirus in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said that provision of screening facility should be ensured to daily wagers in all Panahgahs (shelter homes) across the province.
He directed to inform the general public about arrangements and steps being taken by the government to control the situation.
The Prime Minister warned that strict action would be taken against hoarders and illegal profiteers for exploiting the situation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Dera Ghazi Khan to oversee arrangements aimed at controlling COVID-19 in the country.
The Prime Minister was given an in-depth briefing over the measures to check the spread of pandemic and setting up quarantine for isolation and treatment of infection persons. He was apprised of the arrangements and measures put in place to control the spread of coronavirus (COVID 19).
The prime minister was briefed over certain steps regarding the arrival of Zaireen (pilgrims), their screening, lodging and catering facilities etc.
The prime minister also visited quarantine center and inquired after the health of Zaireen.
Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, Special Assistant to PM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal, Special Assistant Moeed Yusuf and Dr Shahbaz Gill were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Zaireen expressed their pleasure over the arrival of the Prime Minister. They also expressed satisfaction on the provision of facilities.
Meanwhile, while chairing a meeting regarding the performance and responsibilities of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad on Wednesday, said that it is government’s utmost effort to ensure easy availability of life-saving and other important medicines to the people at reasonable rates.
The Prime Minister said this.
The Prime Minister directed to accelerate efforts to make the DRAP a fully functional and vibrant body. He said manpower requirements of the organization should be fully met. He said all necessary measures need to be taken for creation of separate departments of policy making and policy implementation in the DRAP.
The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. The Prime Minister directed to complete all the matters regarding the council as per the judgment of the Supreme Court so that the doctors and others associated with the profession are not faced with any difficulty. – TLTP
