PM Shehbaz Extends Eid Greetings to Erdogan, World Leaders; Discusses Regional Ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm Eid ul Adha greetings to several world leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with their nations.

Strengthening Ties with Turkiye

In a telephone conversation with President Erdogan, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed heartfelt wishes to the Turkish leader and the people of Turkiye on the festive occasion. The two leaders discussed recent high-level meetings held in Istanbul and Lachin, agreeing to expedite the implementation of key decisions to deepen cooperation in trade and investment.

PM Shehbaz thanked President Erdogan for Turkiye’s consistent support during tense moments in the region, particularly during the recent Pakistan-India standoff, calling it a reflection of the enduring friendship between the two nations.

The two also reviewed the broader regional and international situation, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. President Erdogan, in return, extended Eid wishes to the people of Pakistan and reaffirmed Turkiye’s steadfast support for Pakistan on critical issues.

Enhancing Cooperation with Kazakhstan

In a separate call, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed Eid greetings to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The leaders expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in bilateral ties and reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation in various sectors.

They discussed upcoming engagements and anticipated agreements to be signed during President Tokayev’s expected visit to Pakistan later this year. PM Shehbaz also briefed the Kazakh leader on Pakistan’s regional peace efforts, particularly in light of recent tensions with India.

President Tokayev thanked PM Shehbaz for the Eid wishes and confirmed his intention to visit Pakistan by the end of the year.

Reaffirming Friendship with Oman

Prime Minister Shehbaz also spoke with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, extending Eid greetings and emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral collaboration across multiple domains.

Both leaders called for unity within the Muslim world and expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza. PM Shehbaz acknowledged Oman’s constructive role in promoting peace during the recent regional crisis and invited the Sultan to visit Pakistan. Sultan Haitham accepted the invitation and extended a reciprocal invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Oman.
