PM Shehbaz in UAE for High-Level Talks to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD – June 5, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday for a one-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and strategic engagement between the two brotherly nations.

Upon arrival in Abu Dhabi, the prime minister was received by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser. PM Shehbaz is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the visit underscores the deep-rooted, fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE — characterized by mutual trust, shared values, and multi-sectoral cooperation.

High-Level Engagements

During his stay, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with the UAE leadership, including a bilateral meeting with the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The discussions will cover a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual concern.

“The visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership, deepen economic ties, and enhance multifaceted collaboration,” the Foreign Office said.

It added that the engagements will also focus on exploring new avenues of cooperation, particularly in priority sectors such as trade, investment, energy, agriculture, and climate resilience.

Reinforcing a Robust Partnership

The visit follows Sheikh Mohamed’s trip to Pakistan earlier this year, during which he landed in Rahim Yar Khan and held extensive talks with PM Shehbaz. That meeting reaffirmed both countries’ shared vision for regional peace, economic integration, and sustainable development.

During their January meeting, the two leaders discussed collaboration in mining, minerals, agriculture, and other emerging sectors. Sheikh Mohamed expressed strong interest in bolstering UAE’s economic footprint in Pakistan, while PM Shehbaz lauded the UAE’s generous humanitarian and development support during challenging times.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to advancing mutual interests, promoting peace and stability in the region, and expanding the strategic partnership to new frontiers.

The current visit is expected to lay the groundwork for enhanced bilateral trade and investment, and reinforce diplomatic engagement in the face of shared regional and global challenges.
