KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the political upheaval in the country has now come to an end. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari had already directed the Sindh government to focus on public welfare and provide relief to the people. Recently, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited Karachi and inaugurated six projects in a single day. The Pakistan People’s Party government in Sindh has delivered exemplary services across all sectors, says a Press release.
Addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Social and Electronic Media in Karachi, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that a 2,320 MW solar project has been completed at Dow Medical Campus. Karachi Central Jail has also been fully solarized. Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and his team at the Energy Department are actively working on solarization initiatives across various districts in the province, with ongoing projects for 656 schools and 211 rural health centers.
He stated that the Sindh government’s priority is to provide electricity to the people of the province through alternative and affordable energy sources. In line with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, solar systems are being provided to 200,000 families in Sindh, allowing them to enjoy a lifetime of electricity without monthly bills. While negativity is often highlighted, the positive work happening across the country also deserves attention. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto issued the Hari Card, and a Labor Card was introduced during the previous government. Additionally, 2.1 million people are being provided with new homes, and these positive developments should be emphasized.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that Pakistan is an agricultural country, and in recognition of this, the Sindh government has allocated 20 billion rupees through the Hari Card. He emphasized that every beneficial project initiated by the Sindh government sets a precedent, often inspiring similar initiatives in other provinces.
He stated that in the transport sector, double-decker buses are being introduced in Karachi, and work on the Yellow Line BRT is progressing rapidly. The Sindh government launched Pakistan’s first eco-friendly EV buses, the Pink Bus Service. Plans are also underway to introduce EV taxis, with separate services for men and women.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon noted that there were issues with the Red Line BRT project, as not a single brick had been laid in the monitoring setup, causing difficulties for the public. Additionally, the Excise Department has initiated online registration and transfer of vehicles. He emphasized that all departments of the Sindh government are performing effectively.
He stated that the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed by a two-thirds majority with the consensus of all parliamentary parties. All political parties demonstrated agreement on this matter; when Maulana Fazlur Rehman presented the draft, PTI expressed its approval of it.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the People’s Party had faced severe retribution from certain members of the judiciary, yet it has never conducted campaigns against anyone. He emphasized that the new Chief Justice and all honorable judges are respected. However, after the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, PTI has resumed its campaign against the PPP. The public still recalls the founder of PTI supporting General Musharraf and reciting praises for Bajwa Sahib. When in power, they are unmatched in flattery and compromise. Imran Khan even told General Bajwa he was willing to extend his tenure if it would save his government.
He stated that Israeli media is campaigning in favor of the mentioned party, supporting the late Dr. Israr Ahmed’s assertion that it was launched by Israel. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon remarked that this is not merely a political accusation; he believes Imran Khan to be a project of Israel. He added that causing division among brothers, polarizing the population, and increasing social discord is being strategically achieved through social media. Actions under “Project Goldsmith” or “Mission Goldsmith” are detrimental to Pakistan. Furthermore, at the time of Imran Khan’s arrest, an Israeli envoy expressed full sympathy regarding his detention.
He stated that the Pakistan People’s Party has made the greatest sacrifices for Pakistan in every challenging time. The People’s Party honors all its martyrs, emphasizing that it has made unparalleled contributions to the nation.
In response to a question, the senior minister expressed his relief over the release of Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan’s sisters, stating that it is indeed unfortunate when anyone’s women are arrested. He mentioned that Halafia expresses sadness in such situations. He pointed out that their leader, Faryal Talpur, was arrested on Eid night, emphasizing that the People’s Party does not take pleasure in the arrest of anyone’s sister or wife. He added that mothers and sisters are very dear to everyone, and they are never pleased with the arrest of someone’s family members.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that every department has a code of conduct, and action will be taken against any officer who violates it. He emphasized that the government is working to enhance the police’s capacity for maintaining law and order. Due to ongoing actions against criminals, the crime rate is decreasing. He noted that the police are actively engaged, with the Interior Minister and Chief Minister closely monitoring the situation.
He stated that while they express their own views, they also believe in the importance of democratic consensus. This is why the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed with the collaboration of all parties involved.
In response to a question, the senior minister stated that the government will continue to work toward improving the judiciary. He assured that the BRT Red Line will be completed as soon as possible, emphasizing that its completion has been given top priority.
