ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has appreciated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers for playing the role of an effective opposition in Sindh Assembly amid a difficult situation.
A delegation of PTI’s Sindh Assembly members, led by Opposition Leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi here on Friday.
The administrative and political affairs of Sindh came under discussion during the meeting.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi congratulated the foreign minister for observing Youm-e-Istehsal in a befitting manner to express solidarity with Kashmiris and exposing the real face of Modi through a successful foreign policy.
Separately, Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Afridi held a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday and discussed matters pertaining to human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
Qureshi said discussion on Kashmir dispute at the UN Security Council for the third time in a year is a big diplomatic success of Pakistan.
He said the discussion took place despite the strong opposition of India.
Qureshi said international media and human rights organizations are raising voice against blatant human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called Lebanese Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe and conveyed deep sorrow and grief of the government and people of Pakistan over the loss of precious lives, injuries to thousands, and extensive material damage, caused by the explosions in Beirut on Tuesday last.
The foreign minister said, “President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have already conveyed our profound sympathies and condolences to the Lebanese leadership over this tragedy.” He underscored that, at this difficult time, Pakistan stands in strong support and solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people.
Qureshi also informed that 8 tons of relief assistance consisting of medicines and food supplies sent by the government of Pakistan as a token of solidarity would be delivered in Beirut on Friday.
Appreciating the Lebanese people’s resilience, the foreign minister expressed full confidence that they will grapple with this challenging situation with their characteristic strength.
Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their sympathies and solidarity at this difficult time. – TLTP
