Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, strongly condemned what he described as the “unholy alliance” between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, ex-ISI chief Lt-Gen. (retd) Faiz Hameed, and their alleged connections with anti-Pakistan elements. He asserted that this alliance, along with PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan’s recent “provocative” conversation with an Indian journalist, reveals the party’s anti-state agenda.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Tarar accused the PTI of undermining Pakistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty by seeking support from foreign entities hostile to the country. He labeled the PTI as a “foreign-funded party” that has been actively conspiring against national interests, including orchestrating the May 9 attacks.
Tarar highlighted that Hasan’s contact with an Indian journalist, known for anti-Pakistan sentiments, reflects the ideology of PTI, which he claims is aligned with anti-national forces. He further criticized the PTI’s social media cell in Islamabad, accusing it of collaborating with the country’s enemies and running smear campaigns against the Pakistan Army and its leadership.
The minister also accused the PTI of facilitating the resettlement of terrorists in Pakistan at the behest of Indian interests and pointed to Faiz Hameed’s role in allegedly fostering instability in the country. Tarar argued that the so-called “Faiz-Niazi-Bushra nexus” had harmed Pakistan by inciting rebellion within state institutions and creating an impression of division within the ranks of the Pakistan Army.
In conclusion, Tarar denounced the PTI and its allies for pursuing an Indian agenda while operating within Pakistan, asserting that their actions were aimed at damaging the nation’s security and sovereignty.
