HYDERABAD: Anjuman Sipah-e-Qaem Aal-e-Muhammad (Tando Jam), Azadaran Rabita Committee Hyderabad, Jafria Alliance District Hyderabad, and prominent religious scholar Syed Muhammad Ahmed Jafri have strongly condemned the shameful attack on the women’s Mashi Walk caravan by miscreants led by the banned outfit’s leader Mulla Shah Nawaz Leghari, says a Press release.
For several years, thousands of men, women, and children have been arriving on foot from remote areas at the shrine of daughter of Imam Musa Kazim (AS), Masooma-e-Sindh, Syeda Khadija Maham (SA), in connection with the Chehlum (Arbaeen) of the martyrs of Karbala. An annual mourning caravan comprising thousands of women and children was moving from Tando Ghulam Ali to Agham Kot under the escort of more than four police vehicles, Tuesday.
When the caravan reached Goth Deen Muhammad Leghari stop, Mulla Shah Nawaz Leghari along with armed associates blocked the road. In full view of the police, they grossly misbehaved with women mourners and innocent children, made videos despite repeated warnings, humiliated them, and forcibly stopped their movement forward.
The accompanying police, despite being in four vehicles, failed to take any legal action against the culprits.
It is important to note that the district administration of Badin had been repeatedly informed in advance of such threats. The religious organizations and community leaders have demanded from the Sindh Government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate notice of this incident, arrest Mulla Shah Nawaz Leghari and his associates, and ensure the safety of mourners.
They have warned that if no immediate action is taken, province-wide protests will be launched during the Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala against this open act of terrorism
