Salman Bhojani, a Pakistani-origin legal expert and Democrat representing Texas’s District 92, has won a second term in the Texas State Assembly, securing the position unopposed. Originally from Karachi, Bhojani first took office on January 10, 2023, after defeating Republican Joe Livingston in the 2022 election with 20,182 votes to Livingston’s 14,610.
Bhojani, a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University, has a background as an attorney and city council member. His unopposed run this year is attributed to his strong performance in office.
Throughout his campaign, he emphasized the significance of state and local elections, particularly urging Pakistani-Americans to leverage their voting power to influence policies. He called the vote a “powerful tool” for achieving legislative goals at both local and state levels.
