Sandeman Hospital gets 154 DGF wheelchairs

QUETTA: In a landmark effort to enhance patient care and restore dignity to those in need, the Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) successfully distributed 154 wheelchairs to three of Quetta’s largest public healthcare facilities: Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Bolan Medical Complex, and Trauma Centre & Emergency Department, says a Press release.
Of these, 150 wheelchairs were generously funded by a local bank, while 4 wheelchairs were contributed by individual supporters, showcasing a unified commitment to addressing the mobility crisis in Balochistan’s healthcare system. DGF CEO Tara Uzra Dawood and representative Mahnaz Dada came from Karachi for the distribution ceremonies.
These essential mobility aids will ensure 24/7 access to wheelchairs in emergency rooms, surgical wards, and recovery units – fundamentally improving patient movement and comfort in high-volume hospitals that serve thousands daily.
Participating Hospitals & Daily Impact included Sandeman Provincial Hospital – Serving 500+ patients daily, Bolan Medical Complex – Handling 500+ outpatient visits per day, and Trauma Centre & Emergency Department – Treating over 100 emergency cases daily.
“The quality of medical care in Quetta is very impressive and we are honoured to be able to play a small part in distributing and donating wheelchairs to three eminent hospitals, as per their urgent requests. We also visited with patients in the Trauma Centre during our tour and it was heart-wrenching to see the need,” said Tara Uzra Dawood, CEO, Dawood Global Foundation.
Dr. Hadi Kakar, Medical Superintendent, Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta, warmly acknowledged the donation, stating, “This generous contribution has touched our hearts and transformed our wards, greatly enhancing our capacity to deliver quality patient care.”
“The wheelchair donation has made a meaningful impact on our community,” said Dr. Sultan Ahmed Lehri, Medical Superintendent, Bolan Medical College Complex & Hospital Quetta.
Each hospital formally acknowledged the donation through official letters of gratitude, praising the swift action taken and highlighting the immediate improvements in patient experience.
