Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has firmly stated that it will not normalize relations with Israel unless a Palestinian state is established, contradicting recent remarks by US President Donald Trump suggesting otherwise.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry reiterated its longstanding position, emphasizing that the kingdom’s stance on Israel remains “not negotiable” and is in line with the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which calls for a two-state solution.
The statement comes after Trump claimed that Riyadh was not making Palestinian statehood a precondition for diplomatic ties with Israel. Trump also made headlines by stating that the US wants to take over the Gaza Strip, a comment that has sparked controversy and backlash in the region.
Saudi Arabia, which has engaged in US-brokered talks about potential normalization with Israel, has repeatedly said that any agreement must ensure Palestinian sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza.
As tensions in the region remain high, the kingdom’s latest remarks reaffirm its commitment to Palestinian statehood as a prerequisite for any peace deal with Israel.
