WASHINGTON DC: Since Joe Biden announced that he is dropping out of the Presidential race in 2024 after growing calls from Democrats, America’s landscape has changed. One can feel the ray of satisfaction in the Democratic corners, especially those senior and resourceful party leaders trying to persuade President Biden to drop out due to his deteriorating health concerns. President Biden has nominated his Vice President, Kamala Harris, as a presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.
With Biden’s historic announcement that he is not part of the presidential race, political activities within the community have suddenly intensified, especially with the members of the Republican Party meeting with immigrants from various communities.
Mansoor Qureshi, who hails from Pakistan and is an IT professional and video journalist, has organized the event with Juan Pablo Segura to the Pakistani, and Muslim communities. This event aimed to introduce Segura to the community and encourage active participation of the Pakistani community in American elections.
Highlighting the chief guest, Qureshi told the gathering that Segura was appointed Chief Deputy Secretary of Trade and Commerce in Virginia. This event took place at a local restaurant, where Segura expressed his commitment to addressing the issues of the Pakistani community.
He has Argentine roots and emphasizes that “America is a country of immigrants, where immigrants’ communities’ hard work has played a significant role in its development.” He also expressed his desire for cooperation with the Pakistani community and stressed the importance of Virginia’s 350,000 registered Muslim voters and their potential influence. There was a buzz that Segura was a possible candidate for the Virginia Governorship post in the future.
Following a question-and-answer session, Segura presented commendation certificates to the community leaders and some media personnel. Qureshi’s father Abdul Razaque Qureshi presented Segura with the Ajrak as per Sindhi tradition.
