KARACHI: Federal Minister for Education and Chairman of MQM-Pakistan, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, stated that Pakistan’s prosperity is deeply tied to Karachi’s growth. “When Karachi moves forward, the entire country progresses. Despite repeated conspiracies to undermine its development, this city remains the backbone of Pakistan’s economy,” he asserted, says a Press release.
He was speaking at a dignified ceremony organized by the North Nazimabad Gymkhana Trust to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer. The event was attended by Gymkhana President Shamim Siddiqui, founding president Feroze Alam Lari, former president Aamir Chishti, Syed Usman Ali, General Secretary Ahmed Ali Khan, Treasurer Majid Humail, Asma Shah, M. Akhtar, and a large number of members. The ceremony featured patriotic performances and a grand fireworks display.
Paying homage to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the architect of Pakistan’s nuclear program, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui remarked, “A proud son of Karachi sacrificed a comfortable life abroad to serve his nation, transforming Pakistan into a nuclear power. Forgetting such heroes would be an unforgivable betrayal.”
He emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability is a deterrent, not a threat. “May 28 symbolizes the day we secured our sovereignty and prevented India from imposing war. Our nuclear strength ensures regional equilibrium,” he added.
Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui praised the resilience of Pakistan’s founders and their successors, stating, “Their sacrifices and vision have fortified our independence. Pakistan’s future is unshakable.”
On the occasion, Shamim Siddiqui, President of North Nazimabad Gymkhana Trust, hailed Youm-e-Takbeer as a testament to Pakistan’s indomitable defense. “We at North Nazimabad Gymkhana Trust, salute the Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their unwavering commitment to national security. Our unity remains our strongest shield,” he declared.
He also honored the late Captain Moiz Khan and founding president Feroze Alam Lari for their contributions to the Gymkhana’s development. He further stated that former President Aamir Chishti consistently stood by the Gymkhana during every difficulty, while the services of former General Secretary Muhammad Akhtar cannot be forgotten.
