ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has formally accepted the resignation of Mohan Manjiani, a minority Member of the National Assembly (MNA) representing MQM-Pakistan.
Following the resignation, the National Assembly Secretariat issued a notification declaring the seat vacant.
The official notification stated:
“Mr. Mohan Manjiani, MNA, has tendered his resignation from the seat of Member, National Assembly reserved for Non-Muslim under clause (1) of Article 64 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and thereupon his seat has become vacant with effect from 31 December 2024.”
Manjiani’s resignation will now prompt the constitutional process to fill the vacant seat, as per the rules governing reserved seats for minorities in the National Assembly.
