Standing Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture holds inaugural meeting at FPCCI

KARACHI: The session brought together the think-tank of Pakistan’s seafood industry. The meeting was attended by Mr. Aasim Abrar, Chairman Korangi Fish Harbour Authority, Dr. Mansoor Wasan, Director General Marine Fisheries Department, Mr. Noorul Haq Baloch, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority, Mr. Adeel Gilani, Assistant Director Marine Fisheries Department, Mr. Sultan Ali Khawaja, Former IG Motorway Police, Mr. Zahair Pesnani, Chairman SBC Group, Mr. Zulfiqar Lassi, Partner Mukhi Nooruddin and Sons, Mr. Faisal Iftikhar, CEO Aqahetch International Pvt. Ltd. who is a pioneer of Aquaculture in Pakistan, Mr. Murad Gwadari, CEO King Fisheries Balochistan, Mr. Khalid Tanweer, Co-Chair SBC Group, Mr. Rehman Feroz Gaba, Partner Son of Sea, Mr. Ali Raimo, CEO Karim Impex, Mr. Sohail Firdous, CEO Supreme Seafood, Mr. Bilawal, Head of Research and Development FPCCI, Mr. Shafiullah, CEO Bestway Logistics, Commander (R) Waseem Sultan, CEO Chempack Ventures Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Asif Anwer, Director Manzar Marine Fisheries.
During the meeting, it was discussed to take Pakistan’s seafood exports to the next level by working on value addition, aquaculture and farming and finding new international markets. Matters related to betterment of harbour and boat conditions and engaging the Federal Government for utilisation of EDF for the industry and harbour development were also discussed. It was further discussed to grant industry status to fisheries and to make it a key export of Pakistan contributing to the country’s GDP.
It was unanimously noted that the blue economy is the survival and future of Pakistan.
The Committee will submit its recommendations to the FPCCI leadership and relevant Federal Ministries for policy action.-PR
