SZABIST organizes workshop in coord with MDC

KARACHI: A Provincial Level Dissemination Workshop for the Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA) Baseline Study was organized by Management and Development Centre International (MDC), ZAB-ed Directorate of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST) in collaboration and supported by the Project Management and Implementing Unit, Sindh Early Learning Enhancement Through Classroom Transformation ((PMIU-SELECT), Reform Support Unit (RSU), School Education & Literacy Department were interacted with all the stakeholders including at local hotel hare, says a Press release.
The workshop was presented key insights from the EGMA Baseline Study and was to provide an opportunity to conceptualize meaningful discussions on early grade mathematics results and devise future strategies. The participants and stakeholders were gave their insight valuable input to informed dialogue and collective learning among different relevant stakeholders contributing for the education sector.
The Secretary Education Sindh Zahid Ali Abbasi while delivering his key note speech highlighted the importance of EGMA baseline Study He appreciated the efforts and field work of the stake holders who conduct such survey and to provide appropriate platform of Provincial Level Dissemination Workshop for the Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA) Baseline Study, which will be useful to adopt and implementation at ground level will provide an opportunity to conceptualize meaningful discussions on early grade mathematics results and devise future strategies. He lauded insights valuable inputs for informed dialogue and collective learning among different relevant stakeholders contributing for the education sector for ready reference.
The EGMA Baseline Survey highlights both challenges and opportunities in early-grade Mathematics learning in Sindh. By strengthening teacher capacity, improving curriculum implementation, and ensuring equitable access to resources, the Government of Sindh, with support from the World Bank, can significantly enhance Mathematics education. Addressing gender disparities through inclusive pedagogical practices and targeted interventions will be critical to ensuring all students – regardless of gender – achieve foundational numeracy skills.
Strategic investments and well-implemented reforms through the SELECT project can bridge learning gaps and equip all students with essential numeracy skills for future success. With a comprehensive and inclusive approach, Sindh’s education system has the potential to foster a generation of confident and capable learners, ready to excel in Mathematics and beyond. Present key findings of EGMA baseline study in Sindh with the key stakeholders. Facilitate policy discussions for evidence-based decision making for promoting foundational learning in Sindh. Foster collaboration among the key stakeholders for the promotion of foundational learning in Sindh and further strategies
