GHOTKI/DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A series of fatal road accidents in different parts of Pakistan on Sunday claimed at least 10 lives and left many others injured, rescue officials confirmed.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a vehicle en route from Al Markalan village in Dera Ismail Khan veered off the road and plunged into a ditch, resulting in the deaths of four people, including two brothers and a child. Two others sustained injuries and were shifted to a local hospital for medical treatment, authorities said.
In Sindh, tragedy struck on Motorway M-5 near Ghotki, where an overloaded truck overturned due to speeding. The crash left three dead and over eight injured, all reported to be residents of Alipur Jatoi in Muzaffargarh. Several animals being transported in the vehicle were also injured, according to the Motorway Police.
Further south in Punjab, a passenger bus travelling from Lahore to Karor Lal Esan in Layyah crashed near Nawan Kot, killing two people and injuring at least 26 passengers. Six of the injured are said to be in critical condition and were referred to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
Meanwhile, in Chichawatni, a lawyer lost his life and two others were hurt when their car overturned near Iqbal Nagar. The group was reportedly returning from village 19/14 L when the accident occurred.
Authorities are continuing investigations into each incident, and medical teams remain on alert to manage the casualties.
