On April 22, 2025, in the Indian-occupied region of Kashmir, at the tourist site of Pahalgam, 25 tourists were killed. Since that day without any investigation India blamed Pakistan and dragged the South Asian region toward the brink of war. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose personality needs no introduction, has a long history of oppression and brutality famously known as the “Butcher of Gujarat.”
From April 22 to May 10, 2025, Modi’s war-driven policies jeopardized peace and stability in the region. The world watched closely, as the situation unfolded between two nuclear powers. Modi’s war panic and warmongering policies inflamed tensions between the two major South Asian nations.
On the other side, Pakistan’s response be it from the military, political leaders, ruling party, or the general public-was extremely positive and restrained, avoiding any hasty or aggressive reactions. The Indian media, widely known as “Godi Media,” was actively fueling war propaganda.
However, one thing became very clear in this time of crisis: the identification of true friends and foes. It became evident which countries stood with Pakistan and which supported India. In these changing circumstances, Pakistan’s greatest neighbor and brotherly friend, the People’s Republic of China, once again stood by Pakistan for its defense, as it always has in difficult times.
China’s support continues and a clear sign of this was the message from China’s Vice President and Center for China and Globalization Victor Gao, on media. His message not only unsettled India but also forced other global powers to reconsider their stance, seeing how the world’s most powerful country, China, stood firmly with Pakistan.
Victor Gao stated that the relationship between China and Pakistan is “stronger than iron,” and both countries continue to support each other. He emphasized that no country should doubt China’s commitment to protecting and defending Pakistan’s interests-especially when it comes to sovereignty and territorial integrity. China stands by its friendly nation, Pakistan.
This is a war of technology and in this latest battle of technological advancement, the way Chinese technology has enhanced the strength of Pakistan’s armed forces has astonished the world. In fact, this was a contest between Chinese and European technology. According to Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, who is considered an expert in Pakistan-China relations, this was a clear victory and superiority of Chinese technology over European technology.
Previously, India and Pakistan have had military tensions, especially in 2019, when India claimed to have conducted a so-called surgical strike. On that occasion Pakistan shot down two Indian jets and captured their pilot, Abhinandan, whose return became a historical event before the world. At that time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly stated that if the Indian Air Force had French-made Rafale jets, the situation would have been different. Modi admitted that the Indian Air Force felt the lack of Rafale jets.
Following that, India directed all its focus and resources on acquiring Rafale jets to strengthen its air force. However, times changed, years passed, but the Indian Air Force remained largely the same, struggling with basic operational competence in flying aircrafta task considered one of the most complex in the world. And this is exactly what we have witnessed again in May 2025: the situation of the Indian Air Force has not improved.
Despite investing billions of dollars in modern French Rafale jets, in May 2025, the Indian Air Force faced a humiliating defeat, writing a shameful chapter in history. This month will be remembered as a turning point in South Asian history when the Pakistan Air Force, equipped with China’s state-of-the-art aircraft, made India bite the dust. The J-10C aircraft outperformed the French Rafale in battle. These jets have the capability to detect and target advanced radar threats with precision.
In international politics, there is no parallel to the friendship between Pakistan and China. Our relationship is not only based on trade and defense; it is a bond that has stood strong for decades, growing deeper with time. This connection lives in the hearts of the people of both nations. When the 1962 war between India and China occurred, no one imagined that Pakistan-China friendship would become such a shining example. The way China stood by Pakistan during its tensions with India will be remembered as a historic act of support.
China has never lagged behind-whether it’s about military, trade, cultural relations, delegation exchanges, education, technology, or even training Pakistani engineers and air force personnel. When Saudi Arabia distanced itself economically, China extended a helping hand. During the COVID-19 crisis, China provided Pakistan with medical equipment, sent teams of doctors, set up field hospitals, and helped the 35,000 Pakistani students in Wuhan, Shanghai, and Beijing.
China has always proven itself as an elder brother and has openly supported Pakistan’s armed forces. Whether during earthquakes, floods, or diplomatic challenges, China has been the first to stand with Pakistan. That’s why the people of Pakistan view China’s efforts with deep respect. Pakistanis are also determined that whenever China needs them, the people of Pakistan will stand side-by-side with them.
In international relations, China is a pillar we cannot ignore. Due to China’s unparalleled sacrifices and accomplishments, it resides in the heart of every Pakistani. It is our duty to strengthen this bond and teach future generations about this great nation that carved out its own peaceful identity in the world through development and determination.
Once denied even a seat at the United Nations by Western powers especially the U.S.-China now stands tall, dominating the world in technology, trade and defense. We must learn from China’s journey and remain loyal to this great neighbor. Whether it was the 1965 war, the Kargil conflict of 1999, the 1998 nuclear tests, the 2005 earthquake, the 2010 floods, the 2019 COVID-19 crisis, the 2022 floods, or now the 2025 conflict with India-at every moment, China stood with Pakistan like a rock.
We are deeply grateful to the people of China, the Chinese government, and the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad for never leaving Pakistan alone.
Thank you, China, from the bottom of our hearts.
