Arriving in Madinah Munawwarah: Upon his return, Rasulullah S.A.W camped for a night in Zul Hulayfah before entering Madinah Munawwarah via the route of Ma’aras. As Mount Uhud came into view, he remarked,
‘This is the mountain that loves us, and we love it.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 6902, Pg. 2672)
This was a sentiment he often expressed when sighting Mount Uhud, as noted in various traditions. Additionally, it was his blessed habit that whenever he was returning from a trip to Madinah Munawwarah, he would hasten his pace upon seeing the signs of the city. Then, Rasulullah S.A.W recited the following Dua and entered Madinah Munawwarah:
There is no god but Allah alone who has no partner, to Whom the dominion belongs, to Whom all praises are due, and Who is Omnipotent. Returning, repenting, serving, prostrating ourselves before our Lord and expressing praise. Allah alone has kept his word, helped His servant, and routed the confederate.
Abdullah bin Umar R.A narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari that whenever Rasulullah S.A.W returned from a campaign, Hajj or Umrah, he would proclaim Allah u Akbar thrice on every elevation.

(Sahih Al Bukhari, Hadith 1703, Pg. 637)
After returning to Madinah Munawwarah, Rasulullah S.A.W stayed there for about two months before leaving this ephemeral world and returning to Allah Ta’ala. Subsequently, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr R.A became the first caliph. During his first year of Khilafah, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr R.A appointed Hadhrat Umar R.A as Ameer ul Hajj (Leader of Hajj). In the second year of Khilafah, he performed Hajj as Ameer ul Hajj and then he also passed away.

Sayyiduna Umar R.A succeeded him as the second caliph and in his first year of caliphate, he appointed Hadhrat Abd al-Rahman Ibn ‘Awf R.A as the Ameer ul Hajj. Thereafter, Hadhrat Umar R.A continued to perform Hajj and fulfilled the duty of Ameer ul Hajj himself for ten years. During his last year, he ensured that special arrangements were made so that that the noble wives of Rasulullah S.A.W, who were still alive could also perform Hajj.
Following Hadhrat Umar’s R.A assassination, Sayyiduna Uthman R.A became the third Caliph. During the first year of his caliphate, he appointed Abd al-Rahman Ibn ‘Awf R.A as the Ameer ul Hajj and when he was placed under house arrest by the rebels, he deputed Ibn Abbas R.A as the Ameer ul Hajj.

After Sayyiduna Uthman’s R.A martyrdom, Hadhrat Ali R.A became the fourth Caliph. Although Sayyiduna Ali R.A used to perform Hajj frequently before assuming the Caliphate, he did not have the opportunity to do so during his tenure as the fourth Caliph of Islam.

Conclusion: For some time, I have cherished the desire to convey the details of Hajj journey of Rasulullah in simple and accessible language so that the Hujjaaj could adhere to all the Sunnah, traditions and etiquettes practiced and taught by our beloved Nabi while on this Mubarak Journey.
Undoubtedly, this endeavour would not have been possible without the grace and guidance of Almighty Allah.
All praise is due to Allah, who, through His sheer mercy, granted us the ability through the medium of His beloved Nabi to commence the preparation of this treatise.
May Allah reward my parents, esteemed teachers, my family, and everyone who assisted in the preparation of this work. With their encouragement and support, Alhamdulillah, this treatise has reached its culmination.
I implore you, to remember all of us in your Duas especially during Hajj. While studying this compilation if you come across any errors, please do not hesitate to inform us so that it may be rectified in the future. This would be a favour upon me.
