Tragic Traffic Accidents in Karachi Claim Multiple Lives

Karachi witnessed yet another tragic road accident on Saturday as three individuals lost their lives in a collision involving a motorcycle and a dumper truck near Korangi Crossing.

The victims, identified as Amjad Jilani, Muhammad Asif, and Shaukat, were on their way to Ibrahim Hyderi when a dumper, reportedly driving in the wrong direction, crashed into their bike. According to police, two of the deceased were originally from Bahawalpur, Punjab. All three men succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.

The driver of the dumper fled the scene, prompting an immediate search operation by law enforcement. Following the accident, enraged bystanders set the dumper on fire in protest. The fire was eventually brought under control, but tensions escalated as locals blocked the Korangi Crossing-Ibrahim Hyderi road, preventing authorities from removing the vehicle. Police later confirmed that the dumper had been taken into custody and shifted to the police station.

Another Deadly Dumper Collision

In a separate incident a day earlier, three more people, including a woman, lost their lives in a dumper crash near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Mor. The driver, identified as Moaz Khan, initially fled the scene but was later arrested after authorities detained his father, Usman, the owner of the vehicle. A case has been registered against Moaz at the Shahrah-e-Faisal police station.

Motorcyclist Killed in Gulbai Road Accident

Another fatal accident occurred near the Gulbai area, where a motorcyclist lost his life after being caught in a chain reaction crash. CCTV footage revealed that a bus suddenly stopped in the middle of the road to drop off passengers, causing a motorcyclist to slip and fall. A passerby rushed to help, but tragically, he was run over by a water tanker, losing his life on the spot.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old Abdul Rehman. Meanwhile, both the tanker and bus drivers fled the scene. Police have seized the water tanker and launched efforts to apprehend the absconding driver.

Rising Toll of Traffic Accidents in Karachi

Frequent traffic accidents have led to a concerning rise in fatalities across Karachi. In the past two months alone, 96 people have lost their lives, while more than 1,300 have been injured in various road mishaps.

According to police reports:

  • 72 fatalities occurred within the city.
  • 24 deaths were recorded in suburban areas.
  • 8 people lost their lives in dumper collisions within Karachi.

Among the deceased were 71 men, 12 women, and 13 children.

The alarming number of road accidents has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations, better enforcement of road safety laws, and improved infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future.
