KARACHI: Two more matches have been decided in the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Corporate Cricket Tournament. Arham Cricket Club defeated Omar Associates in an upset.
Meanwhile, Alamgir Gymkhana outclassed Mahid Sports by 93 runs.
In the match played at Naya Nazimabad Cricket Stadium, Arham CC batted first and scored 140 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated overs. Muhammad Asghar and Fawad Khan took two wickets each.
In response, Omar Associates’ heavyweight team failed to reach the target and scored 130 runs for nine wickets. Captain Sarfraz Ahmed was dismissed for 26, Umar Akmal for one, Asad Shafiq for one, Azam Khan for three and Sohail Akhtar for seventeen. Faheem Ashraf remained prominent by scoring 30 runs. Waleed Azeem and Shahzeb Ahmed took three wickets each.
In the second match, Alamgir Gymkhana batted first and scored 165 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Saeem Ayub scored 53 runs. Usman Usmani took two wickets. In response, the Mahid Sports team piled up only better runs. Arish Ali Khan took four wickets. Hassan Khan and Asghar Ali took two wickets each.
Chief guest of the match DIG West Sindh Police Nasir Aftab distributed prizes among the players.
In his address on the occasion, Nasir Aftab said that he is happy to see that sports competitions are being held in full swing in Shar-e-Quaid. Sports activities in Naya Nazimabad are commendable.
He said that Sindh Police also has its own cricket and football team and efforts will be made to participate in Naya Nazimabad tournament next season.
He said that Sindh Police would continue to patronize healthy activities along with maintaining peace in the province.
In the tournament, Diamond Land Hub Islamabad will play against Anorex SMS Gymkhana on Wednesday at 8.30 pm. In the second match, Arham CC’s team will face AZ Real Estate at 11:30 pm.
