ISLAMABAD: The West Indies cricket team is set to tour Pakistan for their first Test series in the country in 19 years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday.
Arrival and Schedule
- The West Indies squad will arrive in Islamabad on January 6, 2025.
- Before the Tests, they will play a three-day warm-up match against Pakistan Shaheens from January 10-12 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Test Matches
- The series comprises two back-to-back Test matches at the Multan Cricket Stadium:
- First Test: January 17-21
- Second Test: January 25-29
- Both matches are part of the ICC Test Championship.
Historical Context
- The West Indies last played a Test series in Pakistan in November 2006, which consisted of three matches.
- Their most recent away Test series against Pakistan was in the UAE in October 2016.
- Since April 2018, the West Indies have toured Pakistan three times, playing ODIs (June 2022) and T20Is (April 2018 and December 2021).
Pakistan’s Recent Form
The home team will aim to replicate their stellar performance from the series against England in October, where they secured a 3-0 victory — their first home Test series win since January 2021.
