SHARJAH (UAE): A dinner was held in honor of the Pakistani journalists’ community by the UAE women’s organization Women of Wisdom (WOW). A large number of journalists from the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, an International Journalists Organization, and independent journalists took part.
Women’s organization WOW has been enlightening women in UAE about social and economic issues since 2014 and giving them opportunity to succeed based on their abilities.
Farzana Mansoor and Sarwat Zahra Zaidi, the group’s founding members, together with their colleagues Zubaida Khanum and Sadia Tariq, arranged a dinner at Sharjah’s Hujar Restaurant. The Chief Guest, Honorable Consul General of Pakistan Hasan Afzal Khan, and the Guest of Honor, Press Counselor Ms. Shazia Siraj, graced the occasion.
When the main guest arrived, the ceremony formally began. Zubaida Khanum was asked to the platform by Ms. Sadia Tariq, who was anchoring the event responsibilities, to recite the Holy Quran. The crowd was enlighted by Khanum’s wonderful recitation and translation.
The founder of WOW, Sarwat Zehra Zaidi, gave a brief explanation of the organization’s goals and objectives and showed an impressive video of how well Wow has performed thus far.
On every occasion, the WOW organization has highlighted the potential and skills of women, at this event, too,honorable guest Shazia Siraj gave a gift of flowers to women journalists as encouragement.
Khalid Chaudhry, President of Pakistan Social Center Sharjah, Mian Munir Hans, President of the Overseas Pakistanis United Forum and Anser Akram, General Secretary PFUJ, all praised WOW’s performance and thanked Farzana Mansoor for organizing the dinner in appreciation for the cooperation of the journalists.
The event’s chief guest, Honorable Consul General Hassan Afzal Khan, praised WOW for its past success in his remarks and promised that the Consulate will continue to support its initiatives in the future. He also joyfully shared the good news of the addition of a community hall at the Pakistan Consulate, saying that the Pakistani community would soon be able to take advantage of it.
The participation of the journalist community was highly appreciated, and Farzana Mansoor gave a heartfelt thank you to all the guests. Naveed Ahmed, Ismail Khan, Sajjad Khan, Rana Arshad, Tariq Nadeem, Imran Azam, Hafiz Abdul Rauf, Rana Rizwan, Hina Sahar, and Abdul Faheem were among the attendees.
On this occasion, a bouquet was also given to Khalid Malik from Khaleej Times who has been recognized by his organization for forty-five years of service.
The celebration was made much more exciting by the unexpected appearance of the well-known media figure, Hon. Mubeen Rasheed, Chairman of A1 TV.
During the event a lucky draw was held and gifts were presented to the winners.
Later, the guests were treated with the delicious food, in which the taste of Shinwari Kadhai and Afghani Pulau with Peshawari qahwa, was appreciated by all the guests.
