KABUL: Legendary cricketer Younis Khan has been appointed as the mentor for Afghanistan’s national cricket team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the news, emphasizing Younis Khan’s rich cricketing background and his prior experience as a batting coach. Known for his impeccable technique and leadership, Khan remains one of the most celebrated figures in cricket history.

With over 10,000 Test runs to his name and a key role in leading Pakistan to victory in the 2009 T20 World Cup, Younis Khan brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic insight. His extensive coaching tenure in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and various international leagues further bolsters his credentials, making him a valuable addition to Afghanistan’s coaching setup.

The ACB expressed confidence that Khan’s mentorship will enhance the team’s preparation and performance in the flagship tournament. His appointment marks a step forward in Afghanistan’s ambition to compete at the highest levels of international cricket.
