ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi on Tuesday urged Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed to take suo moto notice of the Uzair Baloch JIT report, which was released a day earlier by the Sindh government, because it was allegedly tampered with.
Ali Haider Zaidi said this while speaking alongside Information Minister Shibli Faraz at a press conference here.
He presented a separate report at the press conference. “You are also from Karachi, you have seen how Karachi has been systematically destroyed,” he said while addressing the CJP.
Zaidi criticised the JIT report released by the Sindh government for allegedly omitting important information about the motives behind the killings and on whose orders they were carried out.
He said the Sindh government has not released the genuine report of JIT on Uzair Baloch. He said the original JIT report carrying the signatures of its members on every page except the representative of Sindh government, contains six names of PPP leaders who patronized Uzair Baloch.
He said the report released by the provincial government does not mention as to on whose instructions Uzair Baloch killed the innocent people.
The minister for maritime affairs prayed the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the matter and examine the JIT reports. He said those named in the original JIT report are still sitting in the parliament and enjoy perks and privileges at the cost of national exchequer. Zaidi regretted that institutions were deliberately destroyed in the past.
Responding to a question, the Minister for Maritime Affairs said across the board accountability is imperative to check crimes in the country. He said those who played with the peace of Karachi must be brought to justice.
Zaidi said that he was not afraid of any legal action against him by the PPP. He also said he had spoken with the Prime Minister who had told him that the government will support him. “That is why Shibli Faraz is sitting next to me.”
Zaidi, presenting what he called was the original JIT report on Uzair Baloch, said that the gang leader had confessed that he met (then) Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur, sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, and asked that the head money against him be removed.
Baloch allegedly said the head money was withdrawn on Talpur and Zardari’s order.
“On the last page, Baloch said that he feared they would kill him after these revelations and that Zardari and other political figures might take revenge and asked for protection.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shibli Faraz said the PTI government has come to power to take forward the country and rid it of elements doing politics for vested interests. He said these are the elements who pushed the country backward and patronized the gangs. – TLTP
