MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the incumbent government is making all-out efforts to ensure early completion of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will bring a new era of development in the country.
Talking to the people of his constituency in Multan on Sunday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pursuing modern trends of economic diplomacy and Pakistani diplomats across the globe have been given certain targets to promote the country’s economy, said a statement.
Qureshi welcomed the Intra-Afghan dialogue process, saying that peace in Afghanistan will lead to peace in the entire region.
About policies of the present fascist Indian government, the foreign minister said the Hindutva policy of the Modi government is a serious threat to peace and stability of the entire Asia.
Meanwhile, chairing a high-level meeting, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will announce a mega development package for Multan during his upcoming visit. Qureshi said that the government is equally focusing on the development of both urban and rural areas. He said that Multan is the future capital of the South Punjab province.
Earlier talking to a private news channel on Saturday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will not step down on opposition’s demand as he enjoys the confidence of the National Assembly. He said this after the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announced to intensify its anti-government campaign and again asked the Prime Minister to resign before the January 31 deadline.
Qureshi, who is also the PTI’s senior vice-chairperson, said, “PM Imran Khan enjoys the confidence of the National Assembly. Why would he resign on the opposition’s demand?” He said that PDM had earlier announced to resign from the assemblies on December 31, but the date passed. “The public has realised the opposition’s true agenda and their rallies do not have that strength.” – TLTP
