KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s leadership while hailing ban on import items demanded business friendly, growth oriented taxation policies to ease business practices which gear up trade activities in the Country.
A meeting was held with Chief Collector MCC Appraisement and Facilitation (South) Wajid Ali on Wednesday to discuss current duty, taxation and examination issues at FPCCI head office Karachi.
Speaking at the occasion Former President FPCCI and BMP leader Mian Anjum Nisar has said that the business community has been taken into confidence whenever there is any policy matter and informed the participants that the government has to consider their budget proposals in the upcoming annual federal budget.
He said that Pakistan is passing through a crucial time due to political turmoil. He raised business community problems happened after ban on imports by the Present government, He pointed out issue of machinery and raw material import which is the basic necessity for industrial production. He said that under invoicing issues have not been solved yet and industrial importers are involved in such practices but they were never punished for their multiple attempts of duty/Taxes evasion, no action has been taken.
Mian Shabbir A. Mansah Vice President FPCCI said that we direly need the customs Lab which will increase the 10 to 15 % government revenue. We are at the mercy of PSQCA, PCSIR and Plant protection departments for fast track consignments clearance, At the moment port congestion is the most common phenomena.
Mansha said, “Tax Policy Unit, ADRC, Swift trials process are in dire need for ease of doing business.”
Moreover he said that our consignments are struck at the port which may cause many businesses to shut down because detention, port charges and price hike of dollar are uncontrollable factors here.
Collector MCC Appraisement and Facilitation (South) Wajid Ali addressed all queries and assured to resolve business community issues related to duties, taxes and examination. President FPCCI Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Fayyaz Magoon, Khurram Ejaz, Sultan Chawla, Engineer Jabbar also addressed in this meeting.
