12th Rabi ul Awal Processions: Traffic Plan Revealed by Karachi Traffic Police

The Karachi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan in preparation for three major processions that will take place on 12th Rabi ul Awal, in celebration of Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH). The processions, which honor the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will occur on Tuesday, primarily along the MA Jinnah Road. The roads surrounding the procession route will also be closed for the duration of the day to ensure the smooth movement of participants.

Timings and Routes of the Processions

Two processions will commence in the afternoon, with one starting at 2:30 pm and another at 3:00 pm. The events are expected to continue late into Tuesday night. The details of the three processions are as follows:

  1. First Procession:
    • Starting Point: Kharadar Masjid
    • Ending Point: Gulzar-e-Habib Masjid
  2. Second Procession:
    • Starting Point: Memon Masjid
    • Ending Point: Aram Bagh Masjid
  3. Third Procession:
    • Starting Point: Memon Masjid, Kharadar
    • Ending Point: Nishtar Park

These processions will move along the main MA Jinnah Road, which is traditionally closed during major religious and public processions to accommodate the large number of participants.

Traffic Diversion Plan

To ensure smooth traffic flow in the rest of the city, the Karachi Traffic Police has announced several alternative routes and diversions. The affected areas and corresponding diversions are as follows:

  1. M Arkiani Chowk:
    • Incoming traffic from M Arkiani Chowk will be diverted to Chowrangi Road.
  2. Empress Market Area:
    • Traffic coming from Empress Market will be redirected to Zaibunnisa Street to avoid congestion near MA Jinnah Road.
  3. Sharea Liaquat:
    • Vehicles approaching Aram Bagh light signal will be diverted towards Shaheen Complex to ensure a smooth passage for the processions.
  4. University Road:
    • Traffic from University Road will be diverted to Kashmir Road via Jail Flyover to ease the burden on central areas.
  5. People’s Chowrangi Area:
    • Traffic headed towards People’s Chowrangi will be redirected towards Saddar via Sharea Quaideen or Corridor-III.
  6. Guru Mandir Area:
    • Traffic from Guru Mandir will not be allowed to proceed towards MA Jinnah Road and will instead be diverted towards Central Jail.
  7. Lasbela:
    • Vehicles approaching from Lasbela will be stopped from heading towards MA Jinnah Road, with alternate routes provided.

Advisory for Citizens

The Karachi Traffic Police have urged citizens to plan their routes in advance and avoid the areas surrounding MA Jinnah Road and its adjacent streets. Motorists are advised to use the alternate routes provided and cooperate with traffic officials to avoid inconvenience. Pedestrians and participants are requested to follow the instructions of law enforcement for their safety.

The traffic plan has been designed to ensure that the processions take place peacefully without causing major disruptions to the city’s traffic. However, residents are encouraged to stay informed and check real-time updates from the traffic authorities throughout the day.
