RAWALPINDI: The head of Tehreek-e-Nifaz Fiqh-e-Jafaria Pakistan (TNFJ), Allama Agha Syed Hussain Muqaddasi, has said that the 27th Constitutional Amendment seeks to bring the justice system under undue influence. He stated that while constitutional amendments are possible, their purpose must be national interest alone rather than personal or party-based objectives.
He said that according to Imam Ali (a.s.), the supremacy of justice is essential for the survival of states. Citing a Hadith, he noted that one of the qualities of a Momin (believer) is foresight as a believer always keeps the future in view. Therefore, sacrificing long-term national interests for short-term gains is improper.
Agha Hussain Muqaddasi expressed concern that the amendment was approved without broad consultation and by ignoring significant reservations. He stressed that the Shia community must not be deprived of its constitutional rights, adding that the continuity of democracy depends on ensuring the rights of all federating units and schools of thought. He said that the daughter of the Holy Prophet (s.a.), Lady Fatima Zahra (a.s.), gave an eternal lesson of upholding justice and rejecting oppression and tyranny. He made these remarks while addressing the office-bearers of the Ayyam-e-Aza-e-Fatimiyah Committee at the headquarters of Maktab-e-Tashih.
Allama Hussain Muqaddasi emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan provides guiding principles for national governance, and amendments can be made as per national needs however, democratic norms require wide-ranging consultation and harmony among all stakeholders before any amendment.
He said that Islam advocates a justice system free from all forms of pressure, and maintaining this principle is essential. Pakistan, he added, is the result of the collective efforts of all schools of thought, and the Constitution grants equal rights to all. It is regrettable, he said, that the Shia community is still subjected to discrimination in religious matters through various means that is contrary to both the Constitution and the founding ideology of Pakistan.
The TNFJ chief said that no state or society can prosper without justice. For this reason, Quaid-e-Millat-e-Jafaria Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi always stressed adherence to the ideological foundation of Pakistan and to the Constitution. Tehreek-e-Nifaz Fiqh-e-Jafaria continues to follow these teachings with a policy rooted in love for faith and homeland.
At a time when Pakistan is facing external conspiracies from both the eastern and western borders, internal political stability and national harmony are of paramount importance, he added. All possible steps must be taken to strengthen unity.
He further said that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) declared Lady Fatima Zahra (a.s.) the leader of the women of the worlds, and she taught the timeless lesson of rejecting tyranny and remaining steadfast on truth. By following her example, nations can attain honor in this world and success in the Hereafter.
