KARACHI: The Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD), in collaboration with the Pakistan Cardiac Society, Karachi Chapter, organised a public awareness programme at the Muhammad Ali Jinnah Auditorium on Tuesday to mark World Heart Day.
The programme focused on raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases, their prevention and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular medical check-ups.
As part of the programme, participants underwent health screening, including measurement of height and weight and blood sugar testing. They were also provided guidance on lifestyle changes aimed at reducing the risk of heart disease.
A number of cardiology and health experts participated in the programme, including Prof Muhammad Ishaq, Prof Mansoor Ahmed, Prof Khalida Soomro, Prof S.M. Faqa, Prof Shahid Ahmed, Prof Tariq Ashraf, Prof Khan Shah Zaman, Dr Akram Sultan, Dr Alia Kamal, Prof Asadullah Hussaini and Prof Arif-ur-Rehman.
The session was moderated by Dr Sajid Ali Khan and Dr Shireen Arif. KIHD Head Prof Rifat Sultana and Deputy Head Dr Asif Khan also attended.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyles and seek timely medical advice to help prevent heart-related diseases.
