The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as its representative on the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), according to sources.
Sources said a formal notification regarding Bilawal’s appointment is expected to be issued soon.
The nomination follows the resignation of senior lawyer Farooq H. Naek from the commission, who stepped down citing personal reasons.
Bilawal had previously withdrawn his nomination to the commission in November 2024, objecting to what he described as the government’s failure to ensure equal representation.
Meanwhile, the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) is expected to deliberate on the party’s future strategy regarding its relationship with the government.
Bilawal is likely to convene a CEC meeting after returning to Pakistan to discuss key political and parliamentary matters.
The development also follows a recent meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal, during which the two leaders agreed to mobilise Parliament for the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment and hold consultations with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
