AMTF badly needs blood donations

KARACHI: Ateeq Ur Rehman, Executive Director, AMTF has said that there is extreme shortfall of blood at almost all Thalassemic Centers of Karachi inclusive of AMTF (helping blood disorders) therefore they badly need blood donations on emergency basis for saving lives of our thalassemic Children at AMTF, says a Press release.

He said thalassemia patients need frequent blood transfusion to ensure continuous availability of blood and for our patients we need to organize frequent blood donation camps at different places. Blood donation camps at universities, colleges, public enterprises, corporate bodies and industrial units will help us collecting blood donations therefore people of Karachi should not hesitate to donate blood and shall come forward to save lives of each and every thalassemic child.

Each year, hundred thousands of people rely on receiving donated blood and blood products to stay alive. It turns out that donating blood doesn’t just benefit recipients. There are health benefits for donors, too, on top of the benefits that come from helping others. Donating blood has benefits for emotional / physical health, reduces stress, lower risk of heart disease and lower Iron levels. There is no end to the benefits of donating blood for those who need it. Thus, doing so they will be fighting against the deadly disease thalassemia, too.

Ateeq emphasized to promote the community values of blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and encouraging people to care for one another. Also to promote awareness that blood donation is a philanthropic action that benefits all of society and that an adequate supply can only be ensured through regular donations by voluntary unpaid donors.
