Bilawal Bhutto Launches Job Portal to Support Unemployed Youth in Sindh

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday launched the “I Work for Sindh” smartphone application, a job portal developed by the Sindh Information Department, aimed at connecting unemployed youth with job opportunities in the province.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi, was attended by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, provincial ministers, special assistants, advisers, business leaders, social media activists, and professionals from various sectors.

Commitment to Employment & Development

Speaking at the event, Bilawal emphasized the Sindh government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare initiatives, particularly in employment generation. He acknowledged the limited availability of government jobs and stressed the need for direct employment opportunities.

“The people of Sindh want jobs, and since the government cannot accommodate everyone in public sector roles, we are creating more opportunities through digital platforms,” Bilawal stated.

He encouraged private sector involvement in the job portal, highlighting its role in providing employment opportunities for Sindh’s skilled youth. He also announced that Sindh’s students would now have opportunities to pursue higher education at top global institutions, including Oxford University.

Sindh Government’s Job Portal Initiative

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah detailed how the job portal would serve as a bridge between job seekers and employers. He urged both groups to register on the platform, noting that job listings from grades one to four would be available, while higher-grade positions (grades five to fifteen) would be filled through the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to ensure transparency.

“This initiative will not only provide employment opportunities but also support temporary job placements for various projects, enhancing accessibility to work,” the chief minister said.

Public-Private Partnership & Digital Empowerment

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted that 65% of Pakistan’s population comprises youth, making it essential for the government to introduce initiatives like this job portal. He explained that both educated and skilled individuals could upload their CVs, increasing their chances of securing employment.

Memon acknowledged that most young people prefer government jobs but noted that large-scale projects like the People’s Housing Scheme were also generating significant employment opportunities. He emphasized that the job portal was established through a public-private partnership, making it a key component of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision for economic empowerment.

A Milestone for Sindh’s Economic Growth

Calling the job portal a “game-changer,” Memon described it as a beacon of hope for unemployed youth, offering a seamless application process for both government and private sector jobs. He reiterated the PPP’s commitment to promoting technology-driven solutions for employment generation and economic growth in Sindh.

“Sindh is a land full of opportunities, and this initiative will play a crucial role in maximizing its development potential,” he said.

The Sindh government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the success of the portal, actively promoting it to reach a broader audience and benefit as many job seekers as possible.
