The Boston Celtics and All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum are reportedly finalizing a five-year supermax extension worth $314 million, which would be the largest deal in NBA history, according to The Athletic and ESPN.
The deal follows Tatum’s pivotal role in leading the Celtics to their 18th NBA title this summer. Tatum, 26, showcased his skills with an impressive regular-season performance, averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game across 74 starts. He continued to excel in the playoffs, posting 25.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game during Boston’s 19-game journey to the championship.
A three-time All-NBA first-team selection, Tatum has also been named to five All-Star Games. Over his seven-year NBA career, all spent with Boston, he has averaged 23.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game across 513 games.
In addition to Tatum’s extension, the Celtics have also secured starting guard Derrick White with a $126 million contract extension, solidifying their roster for the upcoming seasons.
