Climate change is an important global issue and Pakistan is also facing its impact and repercussions consistently. In order to combat the issue of climate change and to ensure best pollution free environment, it is extremely important that a massive number of trees should be planted all over the country that will certainly bring a decline in the level of the hot temperature. To help establish an environment- friendly society, everyone should play its positive role.
When we talk about climate change, the very first things that comes in our mind is the significant long-term changes in the global climate. The global climate is the connected system of sun, earth and oceans, wind, rain and snow, forests, deserts and savannas, and everything people do. Climate change is rapidly affecting our forests. Millions of trees are damaged every year due to changing climate patterns.
Burning of Fossil fuels is one of the major reasons for change in climate. Our exploitation of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas to feed the furnaces of a global industrial complex is changing the planets’ ability to self regulate temperatures; due to this, we are facing hotter summers, warmer winters, insect infestations and changing rainfall patterns.
Global warming is affecting almost every planetary ecosystem. Global warming refers to the gradual increment in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere because an increased amount of heat striking the earth from the sun is being trapped in the atmosphere and not radiated out into space. Global warming can be mitigated by planting trees on a global scale.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has already taken this initiative of making ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ and has kicked off plantation drive at many places throughout Pakistan.
Why tree plantation is vital for society?
People should plant maximum number of trees to make the environment clean and green. Plantation of trees plays an important role in improving the environment and now a days, many different campaigns are being started.
We need plantation because trees help to control the environmental degradation; trees are also an important source of controlling land erosion and mitigation of floods. Trees are the source of enhancing the natural beauty of our surroundings so we need to make collective efforts to protect trees.
In fact, plants are ornaments of the earth and a big source of oxygen for everyone. Plants are beautiful gift of nature and their protection is our societal responsibility. Every citizen of the society should play his/her positive role to make this country more beautiful.
It costs less than 200 to plant a tree. Our city is highly affected by environmental changes, as we can see that in few past days some pictures were resulting in abnormally hot weather, heat waves and reduction in raining. Some environment friendly trees such as Gulmohar, Neem, Amaltus, Lignum, Peepal etc. which do not require any additional care and are also relatively cheaper than other plants.
We must request our family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues and relatives to plant trees as much as we can. It is our collective responsibility to take active part in such campaigns by planting maximum number of trees. All the segments of the society should participate in this noble cause.
We need to take this step now because one can make change but together, we make the difference.
