The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan hosted a prestigious reception in Islamabad to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, drawing a distinguished gathering of top political leaders, diplomats, and civil society members. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar, attended the event as the chief guest alongside several federal ministers and senior representatives from various political parties. In his comprehensive keynote address, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong detailed China’s historic journey under the leadership of the ruling party, highlighted the profound impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and warmly commended Pakistan for its recent macroeconomic recovery and successful international diplomacy.
Ambassador Jiang began by tracing the remarkable trajectory of the ruling party, noting its growth from a modest group of just over fifty members at its inception to the world’s largest ruling party with a membership exceeding one hundred million. He emphasized that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has successfully achieved the dual miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability, officially wiping out extreme poverty by lifting nearly one hundred million rural citizens into prosperity. The ambassador shared key performance metrics to illustrate this transformation, stating that China’s gross domestic product has reached a staggering 140.2 trillion yuan, with per capita income rising to 13,400 US dollars and national manufacturing capabilities expanding to account for nearly thirty percent of the global value-added total. He added that this momentum has safely carried over into the current year, with the Chinese economy registering a steady five percent year-on-year growth during the first quarter.
A central focus of the address was the evolving nature of bilateral economic cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative, within which the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor serves as a primary pilot project. Ambassador Jiang revealed that the corridor has successfully injected over 25.9 billion US dollars in direct investment into Pakistan, generating more than 260,000 local jobs, adding over 8,000 megawatts of power generation capacity, and laying down extensive core electricity transmission grids and expressways. Looking toward the future, the ambassador announced that Beijing is fully prepared to accelerate the implementation of the upgraded version of the project, known as the corridor phase two, by deeply aligning China’s newly launched 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s homegrown development framework, the Uraan Pakistan initiative.
In a significant gesture of regional solidarity, the Chinese envoy extended warm congratulations to the government and people of Pakistan for achieving notable domestic and external milestones. He specifically lauded Pakistan’s economic performance during the fiscal year 2026, noting that the national gross domestic product expanded by 3.7 percent to reach a record high of 452 billion US dollars, while annual per capita income increased by 8.5 percent to 1,901 US dollars. Furthermore, the ambassador praised Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role on the global stage, explicitly applauding Islamabad’s successful diplomatic facilitation of the recent Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States as a vital contribution to easing regional tensions and safeguarding peace.
The reception concluded on a high note of mutual commitment, with the ambassador expressing China’s readiness to deepen governance exchanges with Pakistani political parties using the framework of the newly introduced ideological principles on party building. As both nations mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties this year, the event underscored a shared determination to execute the high-level consensus reached between President Xi Jinping, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to foster an even closer strategic cooperative partnership for generations to come.
