There are some misunderstandings about the use of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the use of the prevention of Coronavirus infection. We should understand that this virus is very resistant to most medicines can stay in the air for 3 hours on table chars etc. for 72 hours and the only medicine which can be effective is Chloroquine or Hydroxychloroquine. It is true that it can prolong the qt interval and can cause heart problems but there are a huge number of medicines causing same effects.
Antibiotics: such as Levofloxacin (Leflox), Moxifloxacin, Erythromycin, Azithromycin (Azommax, Macrobac), Metronidazole (Flagyl). These antibiotics are being used very frequently and can prolong the qt interval.
Antifungal: Itraconazole (Sporanox), Fluconazole (Diflucan), Ketoconazole (Nizoral). Most frequently and used by dermatologists and some even for more than a month.
Adrenaline: Most important for the prevention of anaphylaxis (Epipen). This is life-saving medicine and the only medicine recommended for severe allergic reactions. Epipen or our Anaphylaxis Kit must be carried by all patients always with them in case of a severe allergic reaction but can still prolong the qt interval.
Antiarrhythmic Drugs: Quinidine, Procainamide, Diopromide for Heart diseases by the cardiologists having the same effect.

It is recommended that Hydroxychloroquine 400mg or Chloroquine 500mg should be taken once a week until this pandemic is not over. For heart patients who have prolonged QT intervals can consult their cardiologist’s others can take it. It is a low dose, just one tablet a week as compared to the above medicines. So protect yourself don’t take chances on your life and start taking one tablet once a week.
