DG NAB assures farmers for taking up agri related issues due to corruption

KARACHI: Sindh Chamber of Agriculture organised a seminar Tuesday at a local hotel where DG NAB Mohammad Altaf Bawany participated as chief guest on subject of “Problems faced by farmers due to corruption”. President of Chamber of Agriculture Kabool Khatian, Abdullah Rafi and a large number of growers and farmers hailing from entire Sindh participated, says a Press release.

After hearing the farmers’ concerns, DG NAB during his address to the farmers said that NAB is cognisant of the problems encountered by them. However, he said, only administration has the solutions for host of the issues.

He said that the governance issues would improve if home grown alternative solutions are also adopted for redress of problems, instead of looking towards the resource constrained Government for providing ready solutions at doorsteps for every problem.

He called upon farmers to adopt mechanisation in agricultural techniques like system of sprinklers, instead of waiting for the water distribution mechanism to be improved by the Government. He said contributory approach complements the governance for improving it.

Responding to complaints of farmers, he assured to forward suggestions/recommendations to Sindh Government in order to address the problems of farmers related to Bardaana distribution under NAB’s prevention regime. He said issue of non-operational district units for computerisation and reconstruction of revenue record will soon be taken up.

DG NAB said that menace of corruption cannot be curbed single handedly except with the effective part played by the members of general public with their contribution by exposing the corruption.
