DGF’s Bhook Mitao distributes ration to 2000 hungry families

KARACHI: In a continued effort to combat hunger in Pakistan, the Dawood Global Foundation’s (DGF’s) Bhook Mitao #LFFeed campaign has taken a significant step forward by distributing essential food rations to 2,000 deserving families across various areas in Karachi, including Ibrahim Hyderi, Chashma Goth, Dehli Colony, and Punjab colony, says a Press release.
This initiative not only marks a substantial contribution towards alleviating hunger but also underscores the Foundation’s commitment to reaching the most vulnerable segments of society, including individuals with special needs such as paraplegics or the visually impaired.
The food distribution effort, which took place in anticipation of Ramadan, provided its signature pink doris containing flour, sugar, chana black, Tapal Tea Family, dates, basmati rice, dal chana supreme, ghee, Rooh Afza, vermicelli, and salt. These packages were carefully curated to meet the nutritional and cultural preferences of the recipients, all of whom were zakat-qualifying and Zakat-accepting, in line with Islamic principles of charity and support.
With this latest initiative, the DGF has reached a remarkable milestone, having now distributed food rations to a total of 35,000 deserving families across Karachi and the interior Sindh. The cost of each food package was estimated at PKR 4200 for families in Karachi and PKR 4750 for those in interior Sindh, reflecting the Foundation’s dedication to providing meaningful support to those in need.
The success of the Bhook Mitao by LadiesFund campaign is attributed to the relentless efforts of its dedicated team members, including Aamir Butt, Samia Ahmed, Kunwar Ali Nafees, Samina Aslam, Mehr Ali, Afzzal Adhia, and Tara Uzra Dawood, among others. Their commitment and hard work have been instrumental in ensuring that the campaign reaches its goals and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of families in Pakistan.
This distribution initiative follows the successful hosting of the 8th LadiesFund Sustainability Lunch 2024 by The British Deputy High Commission in Karachi a few weeks earlier. That event, which was a resounding success, provided a platform for discussing and highlighting the impactful work of LadiesFund’s projects, particularly the Bhook Mitao campaign, in the fight against hunger in Pakistan.
Tara Uzra Dawood, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in addressing the critical issue of hunger and ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our society are not left behind. The Dawood Global Foundation remains committed to its mission of eliminating hunger in Pakistan and are grateful for the continued support of its partners, volunteers, and the community.
The Dawood Global Foundation is dedicated to supporting educational, health, and social initiatives in Pakistan, with a particular focus on empowering women and children. Through its various campaigns and programs, the Foundation aims to create a more equitable and prosperous society for all.
