ISLAMABAD: FBR has received record number of tax returns. Our online system is functioning smoothly and currently a large number of taxpayers are preparing return online and the numbers of returns are increasing quickly, says a tweet from FBR Spokesperson, here Tuesday.
If the trend continues, it is expected that total number of returns for the day may reach near 200,000.
The FBR has clarified that the letter attributed to the FBR regarding the extension of the date of submission of income tax returns is fake.
Another tweet from the FBR Spokesperson said that with the efforts of Customs in coordination with Ministries of Commerce and Maritime, cargo ship “Strategic Endeavor” containing 22000 tons of fertilizer arrived at Gwadar Port for transit to Afghanistan after being loaded on bonded trucks instead of containerized cargo.
This new initiative taken by Pakistan Customs provides a rare business opportunity generating employment for logistics companies and labor services and promoting trade facilitation.
Pakistan Customs is proud to spearhead the national cause with support of armed forces and other security agencies making Gwadar Port fully operational along with reducing transit cost due to N-85 for transit/transshipment consignments.
This shall play a vital role in the regional maritime connectivity for CPEC, transit and transshipment for the rest of the countries in region along with ensuring national security and boosting Pakistan’s economy.
Meanwhile, the FBR Spokesperson while clarifying a fake letter regarding extension in the date for filing of income tax returns, has made it clear that the date for submission of income tax returns will not be further extended.
All commercial banks were kept open till 9 pm Tuesday night for the convenience of taxpayers while all FBR field offices remained open till 10 pm for the convenience of taxpayers. Taxpayers were allowed to file income tax returns online until midnight.
Meanwhile, all sub-offices have been directed to set up a help desk to receive applications for extension of date for filing income tax returns.
A request for extension in the date received by the Chief Commissioner may be extended to several taxpayers provided the taxpayer’s name, identification number, NTN and boundary are specified. An online application for extension of date for filing of returns will also be accepted.
The Chief Commissioners have been directed to be generous in requesting for extension of the date of filing of tax returns. The IRIS system has also been improved to make it easier to enter the maximum number of expected statements.
