ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Sunday emphasised on forging unity and utilising all available resources to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.
Responding to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent statement, she in a series of tweets said that after the 18th amendment, health has been a devolved subject to the provinces and PPP has been ruling Sindh for over one decade.
She said politics over coronavirus should be avoided as there is need for joint efforts. Regarding Bilawal Bhutto’s statement over coronavirus, the special assistant said such kind of approach can be disastrous to the environment of national solidarity in fighting battle against the pandemic.
Awan said everyone knows that all decisions in the National Coordination Committee are taken with mutual consultation and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is member of the NCC. She said residents of Sindh are citizens of Pakistan and Prime Minister Imran Khan is the guarantor of rights of Pakistanis living in all the federating units.
Separately, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the unified decision regarding lockdown will be made in the meeting of National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Monday.
She said the Prime Minister Imran Khan is himself monitoring and reviewing the prevailing situation to successfully fight with coronavirus pandemic.
Awan said the government’s economic team will meet the Prime Minister on Sunday to discuss the economic plight of the country and the recommendations of the meeting would be presented before the National Coordination Committee for final decision.
She said the NCC meeting is likely to decide providing more relief to the people, who are facing difficulties and hardships due to lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus. – TLTP
