Fresh hostilities between the US and Iran have heavily escalated due to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and Gulf bases. Trying to pass through Strait of Hormuz.  US has claimed hitting over 140 Iranian targets beside announcing a blockade on Iran, and Iran claims to have closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The situation is getting bad due to series of retaliatory strikes and counter-strikes. The    ceasefire collapsed after Iran struck three commercial vessels off the coast of Oman on July 6, including a Qatari LNG tanker. In retaliation US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a massive barrage of strikes on July 12 and 13, hitting roughly 140 Iranian military, missile, and drone targets near the coast. In response in response to US strikes, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting US allied facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, and Qatar.  President Trump declared the US is “reinstating” a blockade on Iran and warned that the US will control the key shipping route and charge ships, while Iran claims the strait is closed to traffic.
The escalation has caused global oil prices hike. As per US intelligence reports of Iranian plot they may attempt attack on Trump therefore Donald Trump threatened to “decimate and destroy” Iran if the regime attempts to assassinate him. It resembles the report like Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. It would have been much better to investigate the source to reach to some logical deduction. The escalating tensions have done away with ceasefire. However, backchannel diplomatic talks through mediators like Oman and Pakistan remain active. Both US and Iran failed to come closer with in 60 days instead distance between the two has widened. Trump also warned Tehran that 1000 missiles are locked and loaded, with thousands more ready to strike. He stated he had given orders for the military to completely devastate all areas of Iran if his life is threatened.  It is true during burial of Supreme Leader tempers were high some slogans were chanted taking revenge    and open calls for his death Trump officially declared the preliminary June peace ceasefire “over” following a series of strikes.
The renewed hostilities were sparked by Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. Navy’s retaliatory bombardments of Iranian coastal and naval sites. Both sides also believe in not extending the war. Notwithstanding, the talks have collapsed even then the representatives from the U.S. and Iran traveled to Oman for mediation talks to de-escalate the conflict over shipping lanes. The U.S. is demanding that Iran should publicly announce to keep the Strait of Hormuz open without attacking commercial tankers but Iran considers it as their red line. It is no more a secret right from 28 Feb 2026 Trump has repeatedly threatened to destroy their bridges, electric power plants, and Kharg Island oil terminal if Iran fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The situation is changing rapidly, with tensions escalating to an alarming level President Donald Trump appears increasingly frustrated; meanwhile, Iran has demonstrated its own resolve by targeting U.S. interests in Bahrain and Kuwait. If allowed to continue unchecked, it could spiral into a prolonged conflict with far-reaching consequences. US has tried to deter Iran by show of force displaying its naval   fleets and talking loud to push them back to old civilization, but this had no effect on Iran.
The US has been struck by the scale of the funeral, which serves as a significant demonstration of state led mobilization. Prolonged confrontation is in nobody’s interest and shall badly affect the global economy. Iran shall never abandon its exclusive right on Strait of Hormuz and is prepared fully to bear the consequences. Iran is the only country in the world that has challenged a super power and virtually defeated them and forced to enter into negotiations. Both nations must exercise restraint and avoid extreme measures, as sustained hostilities would not only destabilize the region but also severely disrupt the global economy, affecting energy markets, trade routes, and overall economic stability worldwide. Western governments and Middle East shall never challenge US to safeguard their own interest. At this critical juncture, diplomacy remains the only viable path. Pakistan being main facilitator should make another attempt to bridge the gap between Iran and US. As a first step immediate efforts are needed to stop hostilities de-escalate tensions and prevent further deterioration of an already fragile situation.
