KARACHI: Alex Hales 53, Harry Brook 42 off 25 balls and Luke Wood 3 wickets for 24 runs paved the way for England beat Pakistan by 6 wickets at the National Stadium, Karachi on Tuesday, in the first T20 match of the 7-match series.
England chased the target of 159 to win, scored 160 for the loss of 4 wickets in 19.2. Usman Qadir took 2 wickets by a disciplined display of good cricket.
Earlier put into bat, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan gave a good start and scored 51 runs in the power play. They scored 85 runs for the first wicket. The first to go was Babar Azam who was bowled by Adil Rashid. He made 31 runs.
Muhammad Rizwan was the top scorer for Pakistan scoring 68 runs in 46 balls and was finally dismissed by Moeen Ali.
Pakistan Middle order once again crumbled in front of some disciplined bowling by English bowlers. Only Iftikhar Ahmed later in the innings played aggressively and made 28 runs in 17 deliveries.
Luke Wood took 3 wickets for 24 runs while Adil Rashid claimed 2 wickets for 27 runs. Pakistan scored 158 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
