Hazara University Holds Training Session on Media Responsibility and Fundamental Freedoms

MANSEHRA: The Department of Pakistan Studies at Hazara University, Mansehra, needs no introduction. At both national and international levels, the Department of Pakistan Studies has consistently remained at the forefront due to its effective academic and intellectual contributions. In this continuity, a training session titled “Strengthening Media Persons’ Capacity” was organized under the supervision of Ms. Kinza Gul from the Department of Pakistan Studies, with a particular focus on fundamental freedoms.
The primary objective of this session was to raise awareness, especially among the youth, about the crucial role media plays in the contemporary world. At the same time, it aimed to highlight how certain information is deliberately distorted, leading to public confusion and making it difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood. Ms. Kinza Gul delivered a detailed lecture on these themes, while Mr. Saifullah Khoso, a representative of the organizing institution, presented an insightful seminar on the importance and effectiveness of media.
Ms. Kinza Gul shed light on the significance of media, its overall utility, and its social role. She particularly highlighted the psychological impacts of media, including mental stress and various aspects of online behavior that require proper understanding. Furthermore, she emphasized media ethics and the responsible use of social media, pointing out that in today’s digital age, even a small piece of content can reach millions of people.
In this context, she stressed that youth must play a leadership-oriented and responsible role, as media holds extraordinary importance in Pakistan. Ms. Kinza Gul effectively conveyed to students the positive potential of social media and the need for its responsible use. She also explained how fake news influences public opinion and how certain major platforms and channels contribute to the spread of misinformation. All these points were clearly presented to the students, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the session.
This seminar, organized with foresight and sincerity, proved to be highly beneficial for students, as it helped them understand the demands of the modern era and the responsibilities associated with media. Since today’s youth is aware and well-informed, it possesses immense potential to play a positive and constructive role in society.
The Department of Pakistan Studies highly appreciates the insight and services of Ms. Kinza Gul and firmly believes that the continuity of such sessions should be maintained, as they are a positive and meaningful initiative for the entire university and its students helping them learn, grow, and prepare effectively for future.
